29 Jul 2011
There is much out there that poses a threat to companies of all sizes. According to a recent IT Pro report, the security of data stored on employees' mobile devices is among the most serious. The news provider recently ranked the 10 biggest threats to company data and mobile device security appeared as No. 7 on the list. Specifically, the consumerization of enterprise IT is calling for companies to take a closer look at mobile device management. "More individuals store personal information on their devices that could be stolen, and this risk will only compound as mobile devices become more popular payment technologies," expert Dimitri Sirotafrom, told IT Pro. "Secondly mobile devices could bring Trojan horses into the enterprise as compromised apps provide a backdoor into enterprise systems.” An MDM solution will help protect business-critical data stored on smartphones and tablets while also allowing employees to be as productive as possible when using the devices. Despite these risks, many companies, small- and medium-sized businesses included, are investing in mobile technology. According to a recent survey from industry organization CompTIA, 33 percent of medium-sized businesses and 43 percent of small companies plan to invest in mobility this year. |
