Advances in the computing power of smartphones and tablets has landed mobile applications in the center of what makes enterprise mobility so popular around the world. Through apps, mobile professionals enjoy easy access to corporate data and can use it to collaborate with colleagues and keep in touch with customers. According to a recent report from Evans Data, 75 percent of companies responding to a survey said they have launched a mobile application development program. When creating their apps, many respondents said they are meant to be used by employees and customers, as well as serve as an extension of legacy systems. "Extending enterprise applications to mobile devices is increasingly becoming a priority for organizations optimizing their workforce," the report stated. In all, 74 percent of respondents said the aim of their mobile app develop initiatives is to extend legacy systems to smartphones and tablets. It's important to note that mobile application management becomes increasingly important as companies develop their own software. Experts agree that the IT department must be careful to ensure that data being used by the software remains protected to avoid costly breaches and loss. |
