iPad is groundbreaking for enterprises, expert says

With the rise of tablets currently underway, chief information officers are either terrified of the new technology or they are embracing it. Either way, it affects enterprises, because the tablet is a new ground which was unfamiliar to all organizations just a few years ago. According to Aaron Freimark, of Apple service firm Tekserve, the iPad is one of the groundbreaking new tablets that is throwing businesses through a loop. However, Freimark recently told PCWorld, smart CIOs recognize the iPad as a device that allows them to break free from the technical boundaries that had previously disconnected them from other areas of their companies. Now, CIOs can focus on having people be productive with the technology. On top of a mobile device management policy, organizations also need to focus on physical iPad management and security, which is one of the biggest concerns among businesses. However, Freimark predicted that as the technology becomes more popular among business users, the operating system that powers the iPad will develop and become stronger and better able to withstand attacks. According to a recent study by TradePub.com, nearly three-quarters of iPad users are at least managers within their organizations, and nearly half of those are in the position of director or higher. As the mobile devices become more popular among high-ranking business positions, the chances of the organization as a whole making the switch also increase. |
